Dr. Allen R. Methven
Allen was born in 1947, in Renton, Washington. After graduating from Renton High School, he served in the military for three years. He then attended the University of Michigan and studied as an undergraduate at the University of Michigan Dental School. He was awarded an Air Force Health
Professional Scholarship and served in the U.S. Air Force at Beale Air Force Base from 1976-1978. While serving there, he performed 1,400 root canals and 400 units of crowns and bridges within the short span of 14 months. Allen has practiced in Houghton Lake, Michigan since 1978 with an active patient base of over 8,000 patients. He was chosen to be a dental ambassador to China for one month in 1982, teaching in several hospitals.
He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and other local business associations. He is licensed in the states of Florida, Michigan, Oregon, and Washington. Allen is constantly continuing his education and in recent years, he studied under some of the top aesthetic dentists in the country at several PAC-LIVE (Pacific Aesthetic Continuum) courses. He completed 160 hours in all phases of posterior and anterior techniques in cosmetic dentistry. He was also one of only 30 dentists to graduate from a full mouth reconstruction course. He has taken extensive courses in oral surgery, orthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry. Allen was also Newberg Rotarian of the Year for 2004. Allen thoroughly enjoys both practicing dentistry, and the patients he is able to form relationships with. He is staying on the cutting edge of technology as well as providing the personal attention that his patients need.
